This quick standing stretch is designed to target the muscles in the back of your shoulders, helping to improve flexibility and relieve tension. It*’*s super easy to do, and we even incorporate a technique to help you deepen the stretch. So, stand up tall, and get started with these simple instructions:
Posterior Shoulder Stretch Instructions
- Stand tall with your spine straight and feet hip-width apart
- With your shoulder blades down and relaxed, reach one arm across your chest
- Place the opposite hand on the elbow to support the arm
- Gently pull the elbow toward your chest
- Push the loaded arm against your hand to create contraction as you inhale
- Relax as you exhale deeper into the stretch
- Repeat this “contract and relax” pattern for 30 seconds
- Find your end range and breathe deeply in and out as you relax into this position for another 30 seconds
